Church Services Every Sunday
Our weekly readings for worship follow the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL),
a three-year cycle of Bible readings which originated in the Roman Catholic church
in response to a new awareness of Scripture in the wake of the Second Vatican Council
in the 1960s.
The Scripture cycle proved so successful that it has now been adopted for use
worldwide in churches of many denominations. These include the United Church of
Christ and the Church of Scotland, as well as Anglican, Methodist, Roman Catholic
and other churches. This sign of practised unity means that throughout the world,
Christians gathered for worship in many different churches of all possible traditions
and cultures nevertheless all focus on the same passages of Scripture on any given
Sunday.
