ImageThe Bible is for some the Word of God, inspired and inspiring, while for others it has always been one of the greatest works of world literature. Whatever your own attitude may be, you are invited during the season of Lent 2010 to share in reading the Bible in Bochum, in giving voice to its message – in your own language as part of the project:
The Bible in the Tongues of our Town.

As a contribution to the Ruhr Capital of Culture 2010, the Bochum inner-city ecumenical working group Kirche in der Stadt (Church in the City) plans to read the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, in as many as possible of the ca. 120 languages that are believed to be spoken by the inhabitants of Bochum, starting Ash Wednesday, 17th February in the Pauluskirche.

Reading will continue daily Monday – Saturday from 12.00 – 18.00 hrs and from 14.00 hrs on Sundays in the RC Propsteikirche, the Pauluskirche and the Methodist Church, Alleestraße, and is expected to continue until 6th March. For this to be possible, approximately 250 people will be required, each reading from the Bible for 20 minutes in their own language. If you would also like to take part, please let the organisers know on: 0175 8579103.
