If you have come abroad for work, study, or family reasons, getting together with people in a similar situation can mean finding a home from home in the Ruhr Area. If you are on holiday here, you are to be congratulated on choosing one of the less immediately obvious places to go in Germany. Worship with us while you are here. Or maybe you are German and feel a special affinity to the English language. – Welcome to the ECC!

The English language allows all of us at the ECC to take a rest at least once a week from the daily struggle with German verb forms and adjective endings as we gather to worship God! Our common denominator English is also a major unifying factor, bringing together people of many nationalities and religious traditions to share and to worship with each other in a way most of us would never have dreamt of back home. Internationally. Ecumenically. – All are welcome!

We know that we in turn are made welcome by our friends in the German churches. The generous provision of the Pauluskirche for our worship has a very special significance for us, expressed in the Latin inscription dating from 1655 above the porch of this, the first post-Reformation church to be built in Bochum. It reads Pax intrantibus, salus exeuntibus , and serves as a wish and a welcome for all who gather here and for all who pass through this place: "On entering, peace; on departure, blessing" .

We trust you'll feel the same as you enter our website, but of course we'll be even more delighted to welcome you to worship, held every Sunday at 12.30 in the Pauluskirche, Grabenstrasse in Bochum's pedestrianised city centre.
