Welcome to ECC Bochum
The English-speaking Christian Congregation (ECC) in Bochum is an ecumenical and
international church community with a short but eventful history. Started as a one-off
Christmas Eve carol service in 1993, the ECC now offers weekly worship services,
fellowship and other regular activities in the English language. Worship is celebrated
every Sunday at 12.30 hrs in the Pauluskirche, Grabenstrasse 9, located in the pedestrianised
area of Bochum's city centre (between Baltz and Saturn stores). We welcome all worshippers
in the spirit of our church's portal inscription dating from the 1650s: PAX INTRANTIBUS,
SALUS EXEUNTIBUS - On entering, peace; on departure, blessing!
Ecumenical in its membership and its outlook, the ECC welcomes worshippers from
all branches of the worldwide Christian church as well as those with no prior church
affiliation. In our comparatively short history, we have been a church home to people
from all five continents and from faith backgrounds as diverse as Anglican, Baptist,
Presbyterian, Roman Catholic and other communions. Special links are maintained
via the two part-time pastors at present ministering to the ECC to their respective
home churches, the United Church of Christ (USA) and the Church of Scotland.
We hope you enjoy discovering all about us on our website - and we encourage you
to join us for worship too. That's most definitely the best way to learn from each
other and about each other!
